BOBA! What's your boba order and fave milk tea shop in OC?? It's my comfort drink as well :)

@Q Definitely depends on the day and boba shop. One of my faves is Bako in Santa Ana. For a drive Chicha San Chen in Rowland Heights and Torotea in Diamond Bar is great too! Lately several boba shops have opened in Irvine and I think they’re all great. I’m glad to see boba drinks where you can taste the tea more now. How about yourself?

@LostInBoba I love Bako! I've heard great things about Chicha San Chen but have never been. I also go to TP Tea in Irvine and Junbi for matcha :)

@Q Have you tried Macu Tea in Irvine? It opened up recently and I think it rivals TP Tea :)

@olivesforbreakfast It’s so great! I can’t wait to back, it’s one of the few cities where Cantonese is still the dominant language.

How was Guangzhou/HK? Also, any good recs for canto food in OC? I’ve been searching for a good local 茶餐廳 since moving up here from SD.

@MajorCowboyCat Guangzhou was a bit of a culture shock. It was 20 years since my last visit and it felt vastly different from what I remembered. Mandarin is the more dominant language now, which saddens me. The younger generation is all Mandarin now and it was hard to find spots that was consistently Cantonese. I love HK, but there is a different aura compared to what I experienced as a child. I would love to go back to explore more cause I only had 3 days there. Cantonese food is lacking in OC sadly. Tasty Food Spot in Irvine is a decent HK cafe. Tasty Garden and Frank's BBQ nearby is passable. I like J. Zhou for dimsum, but it is on the more expensive side. Canton Restaurant has a decent congee selection, but they also have Vietnamese food. Unfortunately we have to make the trek to LA area for proper Cantonese food 🥲
