Where are you at in your life stage?
I'm 24 and navigating through the difficulties of my early 20's. I sort of feel like I'm going through a process of rediscovery of how I fit into this world as a young working person. Truthfully, I think I'm right where I'm supposed to be. But that doesn't make this period of my life any easier or less uncertain. I find myself craving more connection and authenticity with others during a time that can feel very isolating.
How's your life?
I would say in a lot of ways my life has turned out really lovely. On paper, I got everything I wanted. I got my dream job as a labor and delivery nurse right out of college, I'm celebrating my 8 year anniversary with my boyfriend this May, I live close to a loving family, and I'm living on my own and learning how to be an adult. But beneath all that, I am struggling in many ways. My job is stressful on many levels and I struggle with work-life balance. My partner and I are dealing with serious doubts and uncertainties about out future together. I feel isolated and want more friendships. I'm scared I'm wasting my 20s because I'm such a homebody. In so many ways, I am incredibly grateful and privileged with how my life turned out and I am happy. But life is hard and I think I need to be better at creating more meaningful connections with others so it feels less like I'm going through it alone.
What helps you keep your sanity?
I'm a hobbies girl! I strongly believe that everyone should have at least one hobby. For me, crafting and art are my bread and butter. I love fiber arts: crocheting and knitting. Something about keeping my hands busy really numbs my brain in all the right ways. Creativity is a huge outlet for me. Drawing, painting, collages, you name it. I also love reading. Fantasy romance is my favorite genre.
What is most important to you right now?
I think what's most important to me right now is security. I just feel like there's a lot of uncertainties about my future which I think is normal and good in some ways. But I do find myself deeply craving a sense of security in myself, my work, and my relationship(s). I think I am the most content when I feel secure and I don't have a lot of question marks about my near future. I'm a big planner and I like it when it feels like those plans are going to pan out without worrying about the rug being pulled out from underneath me.
Anything you recently found interesting?
Something interesting I've been thinking about lately is the ability to learn empathy through reading and works of fiction. I recently read a fantasy series about a young black girl who loses her mom and subsequently gains magical powers (lol). But the books explores complex topics related to grief and racism. I found it so amazing how I was essentially able to put myself in her shoes and experience these things with her. I was able to feel her complex emotions about losing her mom, feeling out of place in a predominantly white school, and a sense of grief about not having access to her family tree/linage due to slavery. These are things I can never fully understand since I have not experienced it myself but after reading this book I have a much deeper sense of empathy and understanding on these topics. I find it really profound how one can learn empathy through art and fiction and I think it's an underrated way to incorporate activism in everyday life.

Where are you at in your life stage?
I’m settling down. I’ve moved around a lot in the last 10 years. Moving back to San Diego last year just felt right. By settling down, I mean I’m planting roots here in SD and don’t plan on moving away anytime soon. I’m single and just enjoying my life right now
How's your life?
It’s great! I’m generally happy and the healthiest I’ve ever been. My work challenges me enough to where it is still satisfying and I am able to make time to do the things that I love. I have a few close friends here in SD but realize that new connections wouldn’t be a bad thing.
What helps you keep your sanity?
I have a routine that helps keep my mood in check. It involves work, some form of physical activity (tennis, pickleball, volleyball) 5-6x a week, meal prep 1x a week, and small goals to check off along the way personally and professionally. Also my dog, he’s the one that told me to get a life.
What is most important to you right now?
Right now I’m prioritizing my health. Ive ditched the late night, party, going out scene for a more physically active, endorphin-inducing lifestyle. I have close friends out of town that I hang out with occasionally, but being back in San Diego has opened up doors for me to explore new hobbies and maybe new connections as well.
Anything you recently found interesting?
San Diego sure does rain a lot more than I remember…

The rain the last two years have been unusual! The timing of the rain this year so far, to coincidentally fall on the weekends, has been really odd as well. It’s a soothing change, but definitely makes me so appreciative of beautiful and sunny days.

Where are you at in your life stage?
Nearing the end of Act II and starting to think about the possibilities for Act III. Older than I should be, but the father of three talented teenagers. Comfortable with my work, not chasing or climbing anything. I like to think I have one more surprise left in me, though.
How's your life?
Keenly aware that the horizon has started edging closer. I'm mindful that I've had a a good run (so far!), and I'm not so foolish to be made ungrateful by the strike of the occasional arrow from the quiver of love, health, or money.
What helps you keep your sanity?
Music for one, movie/anime night with the kids for two, and spending most of Sunday outside working on the never ending stream of projects that come with a small orchard. And of course getting up before anyone else on Sunday and having a quiet cup of coffee while gazing out the window. Also, the sound of rain, and the distant horn of a train echoing far away in the night.
What is most important to you right now?
Kids! Yeah, I know, sounds trite, but it's a wild ride, and there's nothing like the feeling when you do something right. Not entirely unrelated, but being an older dad, maintaining health is key to keeping up with them.
Anything you recently found interesting?
I've known about rejection therapy for years, but recently found a you-tuber (jia jiang) who set out to be rejected 100 times, often for asking for ridiculous things from complete strangers. Riding along (virtually) with him adds a whole new dimension to the process and helps inspire the viewer to be more open to challenging themselves in social situations.

Where are you at in your life stage?
Having recently gotten my feet off the ground, I find myself working at the Camp Pendleton Commissary full time, while I handle expenses and figure out what's next in my journey.
At the age of 24, I still have plenty of youth to go around.
How's your life?
I don't see myself working here forever, but I want to take these months day by day, and discovery much that life has to offer. The only issue is finding those in my area to start becoming grounded with.
What helps you keep your sanity?
I play games, watch online twitch streams or videos, and maybe stream myself rarely.
What is most important to you right now?
I want to try new things, and managing such expectations alongside my job means I have to pace myself. I have only so much time in a day, and only a few days a week can I handle my responsibilities. I'm do it right, it just means that I don't have much to go around.
Anything you recently found interesting?
I just tried my first ever rice cooker, and my goodness I could have been a lot more frugal with my meals.

I blinked and here I am, mid/late thirties!
How's your life?

Diving at the aquarium and fostering animals from the humane society.
What is most important to you right now?
Being less consumed by work and more consumed by friendships.

Where are you at in your life stage?
I’m 26 and still feel like I’m 22 (ty covid), just graduated and still living with my parents. I’m somewhat hopeful, filled with dreams and ideas but can’t help but feel like I’m stuck in a rut I don’t know how to get myself out of.
How's your life?
I would say my life is pretty static and monotonous at the moment. Even though I’m a dentist I am still feeling a bit of imposter syndrome and I’m afraid of something I can’t figure out…
I’m slowly learning to be kinder to myself, learn to do life and finding myself without the added stress of school and all while trying to incorporate hobbies since I seem to have none.
What helps you keep your sanity?
My dog, he keeps me grounded and forces me to snap back in if I take a minute longer to feed him.
And hope, I hope to achieve the life I daydream about someday, I spend too much time thinking about it instead of living in the present but it’s my way of coping.
What is most important to you right now?
Spending as much time with my dog since he is 11 and his old age is starting to show. I’m afraid I’ll wake up tomorrow and he’ll be gone.
On the other hand, I’m trying not to let myself and my family down while saving as much as I can so I can do my residency in 2025.
Anything you recently found interesting?
There’s a bear in Banff, Canada called “The Boss” who has been hit by a train twice and survived. He still stands on the train tracks like nothing happened.

Where are you at in your life stage?
Rediscovery. Sliding into my mid-late thirties and feeling like I'm hitting my stride. I'm focusing more on who I am as a person and how to make that the best version. I've coasted on my twenties energy and now I'm in my chrysalis with my wings showing and ready to break out into a life of stability.
How's your life?
My life is a mix of working super hard offshore as an oceanographer in renewable energy, which allows me to travel and explore the world. When I'm home, you can find me walking to the surf break or on the trail with my german shepherd. I'm blessed to have the life I have now, but can appreciate the struggle it took to get here and the struggle that everyone else is going through.
What helps you keep your sanity?
Passion. Whether it be whatever project I'm working on. Surfing. Workout. Reading. The next adventure. Therapy. My pup.
What is most important to you right now?
I've been in SD for a little less than 2 years, but have been pretty wrapped up in work and am now trying to build community. Working on myself and adding stability to my life with grounded people with their heads in the cloud.
Anything you recently found interesting?
I've recently found challenging myself and my views interesting and exciting. Whether it be through getting back to being more of a yes person or pushing my boundaries in terms of being present and a whole person, instead of just cruising through life.
