Where are you at in your life stage?
I’m 42, but due to life circumstances I’m where most people are at about 30ish. My husband and I just bought a house in OC. We are about to get a puppy and have started trying for a baby. My career is finally starting to take off too. Of course I would have liked to have done this stuff younger but life has a way of throwing curve balls at every turn. And every curve ball I have either caught or knocked it out of the park.
How's your life?
I feel like it’s just beginning. I’ve been a professional nanny now for 10 years. It wasn’t the direction I was going but life circumstances right? I love kids. And I love the ocean. I’m hoping to change my career up a bit to what I got my degrees in and teach kids science or become an outreach director for ocean science programs.
What helps you keep your sanity?
Streaming! Movies and shows, depending on my mood will depend on the genre but typically animated or comedy. I love arts and crafts though I’m not very good at them. I love LEGO! Especially the botanical collection. It’s perfect for people who kill plants. I love cooking. Like literally I can make almost anything. Of course the great outdoors and nature is something that helps my stress, especially hiking. I’m up for anything and everything really. Lately I really love sitting and talking and learning. I’m looking forward to getting my puppy. Haven’t had a puppy since I was 16 so I’ve been refreshing my mind with tips, tricks, and training styles.
What is most important to you right now?
Making sure I raise a happy, socialized, well adjusted puppy. Seems easy enough right? My puppy won’t be born for another two weeks and I won’t be getting her for another 3 months. But I feel like I can’t be prepared enough.
Anything you recently found interesting?
That owning and maintaining a house is really hard. And even if both of you are tired from work, stuff still has to be done around the house.

Where are you at in your life stage?
I’m in my mid 30s, married. Recently quit my job to take a career break. Exploring things that I always put off due to lack of time - beginning with learning piano.
How's your life?
I don’t have much of a routine as of yet, earlier it was mostly dictated by my job, now I am rebuilding it. Generally weekends are quite chill where I try to spend time with my husband. Mornings are typically slower, more active during later part of the day with coffee runs, walks in the neighborhood, cooking.
What helps you keep your sanity?
Nature walks, music, art, a clean home.
What is most important to you right now?
My health and finding a community of friends
- I wanna build a daily routine that I can consistently follow, with habits that truly fulfill me (exercising, walking, meditation and journaling) and get me ready for the day.
I have realized it’s really hard to develop long lasting adult friendships- most of my old friends have been separated by time or distance and I am looking to make new ones.
Anything you recently found interesting?
Afro soul music - so cool, always uplifts my mood and makes me wanna move. Some of my most played tracks are Antidote by Nao, Essence by Wizkid, Commas and Rush by Ayra Star, Corny by Rema.

During an internship in a dormitory with a dozen other young adults, we had Friendsgiving dinner together. All of us had known each other for about five months at that point, but mostly just passing small talk. So we all met up in the kitchen and started setting up. We all got to bond, share stories, play games, and eat lots of food. Towards the end, we took turns expressing what we were thankful for. I said I was thankful just to be invited and being able to share a nice memory with a kind group of people.
It taught me that life is truly a series of fleeting moments. Imagine if we were straight lines being drawn on paper, each going in a different direction. Miraculously, everyone’s lines happened to converge at a singular point in time, for just a split second. After that, each of those lines continued onwards in their respective directions, likely to never cross again.

My knee accident in 2003. It changed my life forever in every single way. 4 surgeries later and still in physical therapy with future surgeries on the horizon. I used to have major depression from my accident but with lots of therapy and extreme perseverance and determination I was able to mold that attitude into my every day life and make me who I am today.

When I was in the woods swinging on this long rope hanging on a tree with my "friends". I was a couple years younger and we had been taking turns swinging on it and making sure we didn't hit this boulder next to us. When it was my turn to swing they pushed me to get some momentum going but didn't stick around to catch me so I didn't hit the boulder. I smashed my leg onto the boulder really hard and my "friends" ditched me in the middle of the woods. I couldn't get up for about 20-30 minutes and had to limp back to the campsite. I learned that just because they say they're your friends and do friend things, it doesn't mean they are an actual true friend.

Where are you at in your life stage?
I’m in my early fifties, work from home as a writer (fiction and nonfiction), and run a small publishing business and podcast with my partner. We moved to the Bay Area during the pandemic for work and meeting people hasn’t been the easiest thing but I love the weather and natural beauty here.
How's your life?
Overall, better than I could have ever imagined. Far from perfect but generally fulfilling and meaningful. I miss having lots of close friends nearby to do things on a whim. Most of our friends are back where we moved from or scattered across the world.
What helps you keep your sanity?
Writing. I mean writers write. But also having big goals and dreams still. Things to look forward to. And our cats. Working from home would be lonely business without my boss walking across the keyboard every few minutes.
What is most important to you right now?
Connecting. Making sense of things. Not getting in a rut or bubble that echoes back the same thoughts and ideas at me. Learning something every day.
Anything you recently found interesting?
So many things. I’m interested in foraging but nervous to try it beyond my back yard. I really want to learn to do small water color sketches of plants.

I'm not a writer but I'm married to one! I wonder if you'd vibe with her writing group. How many cats do you have?

Where are you at in your life stage?
I am in my 40s, and feel great about this decade of life and how it is treating me. But I also feel different from many of my peers in that my life path still feels very malleable. I am currently exploring what I want my next chapter to look like.
How's your life?
My life is very active. I have chosen work that allows me a great deal of flexibility, so I get to travel, both locally and abroad, more than most. I am not married and don't have kids, so I spend my free time out and about, engaging with my city and connecting with my community. I am trying to learn how to balance my external world and my desire to chase the next adventure with my internal world and my wish to save time for engage with my personal goals and long term dream chasing. I aspire to take it slow and snail more :-)
What helps you keep your sanity?
I spend a lot of time outdoors, in nature. I live very close to the beach, so I go watch the sunset whenever I need to slow down. I also go camping and backpacking by myself, which always helps me to leave the hustle bustle behind.
What is most important to you right now?
I really value my deep and meaningful local friendships. Time with my people, in person, really adds so much joy to my life.
Anything you recently found interesting?
I recently spent a week studying immersive theater with a cohort of other creatives. I found the whole experience to be incredibly fascinating. There were all kinds of people to meet, and plenty of time to get to know them while collaborating on an ephemeral, one-time-only performance that we presented at the end of that week. In my experience, it's rare for strangers to be so transparent with one another. But in this setting, people were really willing to open up and share their most authentic selves. Perhaps it was because we all knew that we would have such a short time together. Perhaps it was because we worked so intensely with one another. Or perhaps it was because we all equally motivated to reap the rewards of being in a creative community of likeminded individuals. In any case, at this point in in my life, I am really wanting to build a creative community here in the Bay for myself. It doesn't have to be a theater community by any means. I just find it to be really inspiring to in the same room as people who are passionate about bringing their creative ambitions to life.

Where are you at in your life stage?
34f. I'm at a stage where I'm constantly growing and evolving. As a single mom of two and someone passionate about my job in public service, I'm focused on becoming the best version of myself. I'm learning to balance work, motherhood, and personal development while taking my health and well-being more seriously.
How's your life?
Life is busy, but I'm handling it. Between work, managing the household, and being a mom, it can get overwhelming, but I'm dedicated to staying productive and finding ways to improve. I'm eating well, getting enough sleep, and focusing on my health. I’m also trying to make time for creative outlets, even though it can be tough with my schedule.
What helps you keep your sanity?
Yoga, nature walks, and exercise help me stay grounded. I also love diving into graphic novels or dark fiction. Taking care of my health and making more time for art has been my priority recently.
What is most important to you right now?
Right now, my kids, my job, and my personal growth are at the forefront. I'm committed to improving my health, being more productive, and finding positive environments where I can thrive and possibly make friends. Expanding my horizons and learning new things are also really important to me.
Anything you recently found interesting?
I’ve recently been really interested in exploring my area more and finding fun, free resources for creative outlets. I’ve lived here all my life, but there’s still so much I haven’t experienced, and I’m excited to try new things and get back into artistic hobbies.

Where are you at in your life stage?
My wife and I are in our early 30s and trying to settle into the bay after moving here in 2022. I've been in my career doing commodities consulting for over a decade and am trying to grow more outside of my career. Kids are in the plans for the next few years, but currently child-free.
How's your life?
In many ways it's great, but since moving to the bay establishing a social circle has been challenging. Working from home only compounds that.
What helps you keep your sanity?
Traveling and getting away from work. My wife and I try to make many small trips throughout the year with some bigger ones. Enjoy as much of our youth until kids make travel harder. I became adept at getting cheap/free travel when I traveled regularly for work, so playing that game and planning the next vacation is my favorite daydream.
What is most important to you right now?
Right now getting my wife and I to feel more at home in the Bay Area is my biggest priority. We've been here for more than 18 months but haven't found many close friendships.
Anything you recently found interesting?

Where are you at in your life stage?
I’m a 20 y/o undergraduate student studying psychology in Los Angeles! I’m a SoCal native but I haven’t explored as much of LA as I’d like to—I’d like to change that and make a friend or two in the process!
How's your life?
Just trying to balance school, internships, and finding time to meet people from all walks of life :)
What helps you keep your sanity?
Creating (I illustrate/design sometimes!), reading (memoirs, fantasy, mystery), and watching every movie under the sun at any local LA theaters (favorites: Princess Mononoke, Tampopo, Ocean’s Eleven).
I also loveee walking and traveling around LA when I have the time and resources to do so (I tend go alone via my college transit pass lol).
What is most important to you right now?
Being secure in who I am! Whether that be through career development, helping my community, or making closer connections with my friends (and potential friends!)—I just want to put myself out there more often, especially as an infp :,)

The blueprint for every perfect day: An unhurried day that never lacks for time, the presence of chosen family to thrill in shared adventures and excursions, the comfort of sharing personal stories and experiences, a celebration playing with pets or children, a wonder at how seamlessly everything seems to be happening, the joy of pausing to appreciate the perfection in accumulated moments and events.

Waking up next to my lady, in a bed that's not ours, in a town that's not ours, in a time zone that's not ours. I'm the happiest when I'm somewhere new and exciting and have an entire day to explore. Or just sit in a plaza nursing espresso and people watching.
San Francisco
Wake up after a perfect 8.5 hours of sleep a little after dawn but plenty before sunrise on a mountainside somewhere. Spend the morning kayaking on a mountain lake with mist hanging right above its surface but a chill in the air keeping visibility clear for miles. Write postcards to be sent to friends I haven't seen in years. Hike back into town to have either that one burger I had at the cash-only spot in Tempe or one of my mom's giant harvest salads. 25-30 mile road bike ride, ideally through something like the way to Point Bonita or the Lassen NP thru-road. Order pizza and drift off watching the Nice Guys for the thousandth timie.

Where are you at in your life stage?
Recently got laid off from work so my days are currently free and unstructured as I plan my next move.
I spend a lot of my days drinking tea, vegging out on my couch with book in hand, eating delicious things, taking photos of beautiful things, and being obsessed with an orange cat on the internet named Jorts.
How's your life?
Surviving the chaos, you know how it is! Me and my plants.
What helps you keep your sanity?
I got back into gardening after a long hiatus, and I am officially in my grandma/cottage core era. I can't believe how much I miss it. Playing with dirt and soil feels so primal that it teleports me straight back to my childhood.
What is most important to you right now?
It's definitely not a career, or family, but real connections. I want to cultivate deep and fulfilling relationships, but unfortunately this has been difficult to achieve for the same reasons why it's hard to make friends post college.
